Yang Zi (English name: Andy Yang) is a Chinese actress and singer who started as a child actress. She graduated from Beijing Film Academy (BFA) in 2014 and is considered to be one of the “Four Dan Actresses of the Post-90s Generation” by Southern Metropolis Daily.

Yang Zi debuted in the 2002 TV series “Ru Ci Chu Shan” and in 2004, she made her big-screen debut in the film “Girl’s Diary”, for which she received the ‘Outstanding Child Actor’ nomination at the 12th Chinese Film Tongniu Awards. In 2005, she became a household name after appearing in the popular Mainland Chinese sitcom “Home with Kids”.

In 2012, she won the ‘Best Newcomer Award’ at the 14th Golden Phoenix Awards for the thriller film “Insistence”.
In 2016, her role as Qiu Yingying in the urban female-centric hit drama “Ode to Joy”, led to her being nominated for the ‘Best Supporting Actress Award’ at the 23rd Shanghai TV Festival Magnolia Awards and ‘Best Actress Award’ the 29th China TV Golden Eagle Awards.

In 2018, “Ashes Of Love” was a commercial success and won ‘Most Popular Overseas TV Series Award’ at The 14th Seoul International Television Festival. Yang Zi was nominated for “Best Actress Ancient Costume TV Series” at the 24th Huading Awards.

In 2019, “Go Go Squid!” topped television ratings in its timeslot and was the most-streamed series across the three major video platforms. Yang Zi won the ‘Best Actress in Modern TV Series’ award at the 26th Huading Awards and ‘Outstanding Actress (Emerald Category)’ at the 6th The Actors of China Award Ceremony. Yang Zi’s depiction of firefighter Wang Lu in the disaster film “The Bravest”, which achieved a box office result of 1.679 billion yuan, led to her winning the ‘Most Popular Supporting Actress’ award at the 16th Guangzhou Student Film Festival and nominations for ‘Best Supporting Actress’ at the 35th Hundred Flowers Awards and 11th Macau International Movie Festival.

Yang Zi was awarded the ‘iQiyi Scream Goddess’ at the 2019 iQiyi All-Star Carnival. She won two consecutive ‘Weibo Queen’ titles at the 2019 and 2020 Weibo Awards Ceremony.
Ranking on Forbes China Celebrity 100 list: 73rd in 2017, 24th in 2019, 13th in 2020 and 8th in 2021. She was named in 2020 Weibo Entertainment White Paper as the Most Commercially Valuable Star.

On 15th November 2021, Yang Zi announced the expiration of her contract with H&R Century Pictures Co., Ltd and the next day she established her own personal studio.
